EQUILIBRIUM Counselling

Psychology Counselling

Welcome

Alfred Adler, one of the great psychologists, viewed people as being discouraged and not mentally ill. Equilibrium Counselling provides a safe space where client and therapist can start an exploration of what is, and then arrive at a place where they have a better understanding of why things are the way they are.

I start from premise that every person has his or her own experience of the world. My therapy sessions are guided by the client’s needs. It is a journey of self-discovery that will guide the client towards growth and meaning. It is underpinned by a person-centred approach where the client can expect non-judgemental unconditional positive regard and the Jungian view that therapy is a journey. Travel is therapeutic and therapy is a trip and both yield the best results in self-discovery. Self-discovery is a journey inward and outward which results in the ultimate therapy.

The counselling process will then allow the client to make informed decisions about the direction of the way forward. Together client and therapist will explore and discover possibilities on how these goals can be achieved. The process will equip the client with the necessary skills, coping mechanisms and value for themselves. The client will develop the self esteem to gain the courage to change the experiences and aspects of their lives that precipitated the need for counselling.

Equilibrium Counselling adheres to the ethical code of conduct as prescribed by the Psychological Association of South Africa
